How to become a Member:
To become a Certified General Accountant (CGA) you need:
- Education
- Practical Experience
- Evaluation/ Assessment
- Examination
The basic requirement for the admission in CGA program is fourteen years of education. i,e B.com, BBA, BA or equivalent from any recognized National or International University. Most of the students pursue the business studies, but the candidate with simple graduation can also apply. Many highly successful Professional Accountants have Bachelor degrees in arts, science, engineering and other disciplines. In addition, some exemptions are allowed to the mature candidates, having post graduate degree in Business and Finance or any Accounts discipline.
If you are a member in good standing with another professional accounting body , you may be eligible to register with the Instituted of Certified General Accountants (CGA-PAKISTAN®) as a Student under the Other Professional Accounting Body membership pathway.
Please note: If you are a member in good standing of a Recognized Accounting Body or Reciprocal Membership Body, you may be eligible for reciprocity with CGA-PAKISTAN®.
Eligibility for Registration as a Student:
In order to qualify for registration as a Student under the Member of an Accounting Body pathway to membership, you must have a minimum of three years of accounting experience and be a member in good standing with either:
- A professional accounting body is a Member Body in good standing with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) at the date of your application for registration; or
- A professional or regulatory body or authority for accountants or auditors in a country of establishment by statute to qualify, certify, regulate, license or authorize individuals to practice as accountants or auditors in that country.
Please note: Exemptions are offered to the fully or partially qualified members of other professional bodies on case to case basis.
You must gain prior or post work experience from any financial sector organization to become a member of CGA-PAKISTAN®.
Financial sector include CA Firms, leading corporations and government organizations and any other private organizations offering the services in the financial sector. This training is essential in helping you develop the skills, the attributes and the values of a competent CGA.
Evaluation and assessment is central to determining the competence of CGA-PAKISTAN®. students.
You will be assessed continually throughout your development – in your university programs, in your professional education programs and on the job.
All CGA candidates must pass the exam and the case studies. The exam is the final element in the continual process of developing, assessing, and judging the level of your knowledge, skills and professional values against those required by a CGA.
After assessment, if registrar feels that you fulfill the entire prescribed requirements for the registration, then you have to submit the necessary forms, attested copies of your academic and professional qualifications along with the prescribed fee for the registration. After the registration you may sit for the exam to qualify the Certified General Accountants (CGA) Professional program.
Once you have gained your CGA-PAKISTAN® membership, you are then entitled to use the prestigious CGA designation after your name. You will have access to a wide range of events, technical information, career support, networking opportunities and more.
